The Sandy City Council received updates on the Medically Vulnerable People facility, Council policies, the Recreation Center, and the potential purchase of Crescent View Middle School. A motion to request bond language for three scenarios—purchase/update of Crescent Middle, that plus a public safety facility, or only a public safety facility—failed in a 3-3 tie. The Council approved the consent calendar, including the July 7, 2026 minutes, and later convened a closed session to discuss real property.

Thank you. Madam Chair, we're ready whenever you're ready. Oh, sorry. That was me. I heard you say Madam Chair and it took me a minute. Oh, wait. Yeah. Thank you for that. We are ready. Good evening, everyone. Thank you for joining us for tonight's City Council meeting . We are happy to have a prayer. We are happy to have several of our council colleagues in the chamber tonight. Before we get started, we always like to begin with a prayer and a pledge. Do we have anyone who would volunteer to say the prayer for us this evening? Yes, please. Thank you. Our dearest Heavenly Father. We are so grateful to be gathered together as servants in Sandy City. Please help us to make good decisions, to listen to the presentations and understand the information that we are given and to do the best things that we can for Sandy residents. Please watch over and protect our employees, that they would be safe as they are doing their jobs. We are so grateful for all of our blessings. We love thee and we say these things in the name of thy Son , Jesus Christ. Amen. And if we could please stand and we'll say the pledge together. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you for that. And we will now move to introductions, starting with our council staff, please. Thank you, Madam Chair. My name is Dustin Frato. I'm with the city council office. There's one other …

Gracias. No voy a apresurar esto esta vez. Me disculpo. Mmm. Quiero decir, sé que tienes cinco. Las que necesites, supongo. Pero veremos si podemos avanzar hoy. Descansen y luego continuamos, ¿sí? Sí. Ya entré. Supongo que subiremos. Solo quiero tener que... Solo los dejo también. ¿Perdón? ¿Qué? No tengo... We have a little bit of an out of the ordinary schedule for tonight. Let me tell you what it will be. Council is receiving training on budgeting in our council mayor form of government. Then we will, after that concludes, we will be taking general citizen comment. Then we will move on to standing reports. And then finally, we have a closed session on the agenda after that. So that's the sequence of events. We start all our meetings with prayer and a pledge. Who would like to volunteer to give us the prayer for this evening? Ms. Christensen, go ahead. Our dearest Heavenly Father, we are so grateful to be gathered together as Sandy residents and the people that serve the city. Please help us to be able to understand the things that are placed before us and to take them into our budgeting process. Please bless you to make good choices that will better our city. And please bless all of the employees that they would be as safe as they are doing their jobs. We love thee and we say these things in the name of thy son , Jesus Christ. Amen. Will everyone please rise for the pledge? I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation , under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right. And introductions are next. Dustin, would you like to kick us off? Of course. Thank you, …

✓ Decidido: Approved 18 annexations, tabled 8 amid Granite debate

The Sandy City Council approved 18 property annexations (6-0) and tabled 8 others (5-1) following a public hearing where many Granite community residents opposed annexation, arguing it would derail their incorporation vote. One annexation (Hilton) was adopted with an animal rights zoning amendment.
