ON JUNE 25, 2026
The Town Council of the Town of Smyrna, Rutherford County, Tennessee, met in a work
session at 5:00 p.m. on June 25, 2026, at Town Hall to discuss various agenda items. Mayor Marty
Esther Reed called the meeting to order at 5:18 p.m. following a special-called meeting
immediately prior. The following Town Council Members were present:

Steve Sullivan
Racquel Peebles
Mayor Mary Esther Reed
Vice-Mayor Marc Adkins and Council Member Gerry Short were not present for this
mecting. In addition to the members of the Town Council, various staff members, citizens and

Mayor Reed called the meeting to order at 05:01 PM. The Invocation was led by
Councilman Sullivan. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Building Official, Kristi
Worrell.
2. Roll Call
The roll was called by the Town Clerk and the following Town Council Members were
present: Council Member Racquel Peebles, Council Member Steve Sullivan, Council
Member Gerry Short, Council Member HG Cole, Council Member Jerome Dempsey,
Vice-Mayor Marc Adkins and Mayor Mary Esther Reed.

The Town Council of the Town of Smyrna, Rutherford County, Tennessee, met in a work
session at 5:00 p.m. on February 26, 2026, at Town Hall to discuss various agenda items. The
following Town Council Members were present:

HVAC system in the amount of $10,592.73 and one purchase for the repair and replacement of
two (2) pumps at the Westfork lift station that failed during the recent winter storm event in the
amount of $18,821.30.

Prior to the discussion, Mayor Reed introduced Patrick Marsh, Municipal Management
Consultant with Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS). Following the
introduction, Patrick Marsh presented the scope that MTAS could be involved in the
recruitment and selection process for the Town Attorney Role.
Next, the Council unanimously decided to the utilization of an MTAS-facilitated process
for applicants. Revisions were made to the job description for posting by the end of the
week, or February 27, 2026, utilizing the current pay range and removing the residency
requirement.
After discussion, it was decided unanimously that special-called meetings would be
scheduled for March 27, 2026, beginning at 8:00a.m. to review applicants and discuss
next steps with MTAS. Applicant presentation and interviews will take place on April 17,
2026, beginning at 8:00a.m., with a more detailed schedule to be determined after
finalists are identified.

The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Amy Harrison, at 5:01 p.m. at Town

The Town Council of the Town of Smyrna, Rutherford County, Tennessee, met in a work
session at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026, at Town Hall to discuss various agenda items. The
following Town Council Members were present:
