City Council to approve commercial cannabis use in manufacturing zone
The South El Monte City Council will hold a public hearing on Ordinance 1287, which would allow retailer commercial cannabis operations in the manufacturing zone and set a 350‑foot buffer from jurisdictional boundaries and a 1,000‑foot buffer from other sensitive uses. The council will also adopt Ordinance 1286 to amend the municipal code by adopting the 2026 Los Angeles County Building Code and related codes. Additional items include approval of the December 2, 2025 meeting minutes, a $1,033,107.35 payment warrant for January 2026 expenditures, and an amendment to the Watershed Health contract increasing its limit by $219,504.
