City Council and Successor Agency to the South El Monte Improvement District
Council to vote on 500-foot no-solicitation buffer around schools
The City Council will hold a public hearing and vote on a proposed ordinance creating a 500-foot non-solicitation buffer around K-12 schools (Item 10.a). They will also consider a zone text amendment requiring massage businesses to be at least 1,000 feet from sensitive uses and 350 feet from city boundaries (Item 9.a). Other business includes approving $1.7 million in warrants, upgrading job classifications, and renewing three executive employment agreements.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of
South El Monte will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at El Palacio Hall, 1221 Peck

Patriotic Commission to continue planning Flags of Valor and Memorial Day events

GENERAL COMMENT

MEETINGS
The Patriotic Commission holds regular meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every
month. Regular meetings start at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1415
Santa Anita Avenue, South El Monte, California. Special and Adjourned Regular
meetings start time are to be determined.

The South El Monte City Council will discuss placing a referendum on Measure CM, which authorizes cannabis retail businesses, on the November 2026 ballot.
