Robstown ISD board to weigh budget, tax rate, election; no decisions yet from recent meetings
The Robstown ISD Board of Trustees has a busy week ahead, with a special meeting today to consider adopting the 2026-2027 budget and tax rate, and another special meeting later this week to review state accountability ratings. Minutes from three recent meetings have not yet been published, so no decisions from those sessions are known.
Recent meetings
Aug. 10 regular meeting
The board's agenda on Aug. 10 included a resolution to defease or redeem certain outstanding obligations, and a call for a general election on Nov. 3, 2026, for trustee Places 5, 6, and 7. The board also considered an agreement to conduct a joint election with Nueces County, the award of RFP#26-004 for excess workers compensation insurance, and approval of TASB LOCAL Policy Manual Update 127. Aug. 17 board workshop
A workshop on Aug. 17 was dedicated to discussion of the 2026-2027 budget. Public comments were limited to agenda items, with a three-minute limit per speaker. No minutes are available.
Aug. 19 special meeting
A special meeting on Aug. 19 addressed personnel matters and a Level Three grievance filed by Tomas Beltran. The board entered closed session under Texas Government Code sections 551.071 and 551.074 for employee appointments, evaluations, resignations, and dismissals, and for the grievance. It then reconvened in open session to consider action. Minutes are not yet published.

Aug. 24 special meeting (today)
The board will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2026-2027 budget and tax rate, then consider a final budget amendment for the current fiscal year (amendment #5), adoption of the 2026-2027 budget, and adoption of the district's tax rate. A closed session is scheduled for employee appointments, evaluations, resignations, and dismissals.
Aug. 26 special meeting
The board will review the 2025-2026 TEA Accountability Ratings and discuss the superintendent's duties related to the 2026 ratings. It will also consider approving a support plan for the superintendent to improve the district's accountability ratings. A closed session on personnel matters is scheduled, followed by possible action.
