Crandall ISD board takes up budget, tax rate, special election
The Crandall ISD Board of Trustees met three times in the past two weeks, taking up the district's 2026-27 budget and tax rate, a possible special election, and state compliance items. Minutes from all three meetings have not yet been published, so no vote outcomes are available.
Budget and tax rate
On Aug. 17, the board held a special meeting that included a public hearing on the 2026-27 budget and proposed tax rate. The agenda called for approving the district budget, adopting the ad valorem tax rate (M&O and I&S), and ordering a voter-approval tax rate election for Nov. 3, 2026. If ordered, the election would go to voters on that date. The agenda also listed donations of $3,500 from Real Truck and $4,800 from the National FFA Organization.
Special election
Also on Aug. 17, the board held an emergency meeting to consider ordering a special election for other political subdivisions, presented by Erin Gregg. No other action items were listed.
Regular meeting
The board's regular meeting on Aug. 10 included a closed session for personnel, real estate, and security matters. In open session, the agenda included Senate Bill 12 annual compliance certification, changes to the compensation plan and employee handbook, the monthly construction report, and behavior threat assessment policies and handbook.
Coming up
The board will hold a special meeting on Aug. 24 with a closed session to discuss superintendent evaluation, real estate, and safety/security matters. No public action items are listed on the agenda.
