Paradise ISD board weighs tax rate, budget, and election items
The Paradise ISD Board of Trustees met last week to consider its 2026-2027 tax rate and budget, along with a trustee election and other policy items. No decisions have been reported because meeting minutes have not yet been published.
Tax rate and budget
At an Aug. 20 special meeting, the board was scheduled to consider budget amendments for the 2025-26 school year, approve the 2026-27 school year budget, and adopt a resolution setting the 2026-27 tax rate. The proposed tax rates, discussed at a public hearing earlier that day, are $0.6692 per $100 valuation for Maintenance and Operations and $0.427522 per $100 for Interest and Sinking.
The public hearing, also held Aug. 20, gave residents an opportunity to comment on the budget and tax rate before adoption.
Election and other agenda items
At its regular meeting Aug. 17, the board was set to order a trustee election for Nov. 3, 2026. The agenda also included a resolution on district compliance with diversity, equity, and inclusion requirements, a resolution on 4-H extracurricular status and an adjunct faculty request, a professional services contract with DEAR Enterprises, LLC, and a daycare contract.
Both meetings included closed sessions for legal, personnel, and real property matters, as allowed under Texas law.
