Socorro ISD board reviews tax rate, bond refunding, and contracts; decisions pending

Workshop on survey results (Aug. 10)

Briefing on contracts and bonds (Aug. 11)
At a briefing meeting, the board discussed a proposed $550,000 contract with DB Enterprises for athletics administrative services, and a $366,128 temporary staffing contract for transportation with RMP Personnel. The agenda also included an order authorizing the issuance of unlimited tax refunding bonds, a new armed District Security Supervisor position, and an amendment to the YWCA After School Program agreement that would eliminate seven schools.
Special meeting on tax rate (Aug. 17)
The board held a public hearing on the proposed 2026-27 tax rate, including the No-New-Revenue and Voter-Approval Tax Rates. It also considered a resolution to defease or redeem outstanding debt, and a possible order calling a Tax Ratification Election on November 3, 2026.
