WFISD board agendas: tax rates, election order, and disaster recovery
The Wichita Falls ISD Board of Trustees held three meetings in the past week: a special session and a public meeting on Aug. 10, and a regular board meeting on Aug. 17. Agendas included setting the 2026-2027 tax rate, ordering a November election, and approving a disaster recovery agreement. Minutes have not been published, so no final decisions are confirmed.
Election and budget
At the Aug. 10 special session, the board was to consider an order of election for the Nov. 3, 2026 board election, covering Single Member Districts 1, 3, 5, and an At-Large position. The agenda also included budget amendments for July 31, 2026, and an adult meal price increase for the 2026-2027 school year.
Tax rate and facilities
The Aug. 17 board meeting agenda included adoption of the 2026-2027 Maintenance and Operations and Debt Service tax rates, a purchase for Cunningham roof repair (with a TREMCO proposal attached), and approval of a Disaster Recovery Master Service Agreement. The Aug. 10 special session also had the disaster recovery agreement on its agenda.
Other business
The Aug. 10 special session also listed a resolution on 4-H extracurricular status, a policy update, traffic regulations for district property, a foundation memorandum of understanding, personnel reports, and minutes from July meetings. The Aug. 17 meeting included a Junior FFA extracurricular item.
The Aug. 10 public meeting agenda included approval of May 18, 2026 meeting minutes and limited public comment.
Closed sessions
Both the Aug. 10 public meeting and the Aug. 17 board meeting included closed sessions. The public meeting's closed session covered a three-year audit wrap-up, the emergency operations plan, and school drill accommodations. The board meeting's closed session covered personnel matters, including teacher contract abandonment and student transfer petitions, with possible action on those items in open session. The special session also had a closed session for personnel matters and a safety and security audit discussion.
