Sinton ISD runs three special meetings on superintendent search; no minutes posted yet
Sinton ISD trustees have held three special board meetings in the past two weeks, all of them centered on hiring the district's next superintendent. No minutes have been published for any of the three, so there is no record yet of what the board decided or how individual trustees voted.
The agendas for the Oct. 5, Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 meetings are summarized below. They show what was scheduled for discussion and possible action — not what was actually done.
Superintendent search
The Oct. 5 special meeting agenda called for a closed executive session under Texas Government Code §551.074 to discuss applications for the superintendent position. After reconvening, the board was scheduled to vote on the number of applicants to be interviewed and to discuss the search process with a TASB consultant. Public comments were also listed.
The Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 agendas both list executive session interviews and discussion of superintendent applicants. The Oct. 13 agenda adds one item the Oct. 12 agenda does not: approval of the number of applicants to be interviewed.
None of the agendas state how many people applied, how many were interviewed, or whether any vote was taken.
Personnel items
The Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 agendas also list an executive session discussion of a student elopement incident and related personnel matters. Following the closed session, the board was scheduled to consider the proposed termination of a classroom teacher's employment contract and the employment status and possible disciplinary action for district paraprofessionals.
Because minutes are not yet available, the outcome of those personnel items is not established in the public record.
On the Oct. 19 regular agenda
The board's regular meeting agenda lists discussion and possible action on the Somerset Development project, and consideration of contracts and invoices exceeding $50,000. Also scheduled: discussion and possible action on the ESTEEM Health Curriculum, review of Campus and District Improvement Plans — including a targeted plan for SMS — and a board resolution to obtain a Direct Business Rewards Credit Card. An executive session on personnel matters is also listed.
Coming up
- **Oct. 19 — Regular Meeting.** Somerset Development project, contracts and invoices over $50,000, the ESTEEM Health Curriculum, campus and district improvement plans, and the credit card resolution.
- **Oct. 20 — Special Meeting.** Executive session to interview a superintendent applicant and their spouse; the board may discuss and possibly approve items related to that session.

Residents who want to follow the superintendent search should watch for posted minutes from the Oct. 5, Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 meetings, which would show what the board actually approved. Until those minutes are published, the agendas are the only public record of those sessions.
