Southside ISD board to consider tax rate, $4.5M in contracts
The Southside ISD Board of Trustees met three times in the past week, but no decisions have been published yet. Budget and tax rate
The board's Aug. 13 Budget Workshop #4 included a presentation by Michael Carrales on the 2026-2027 budget, a public comments period, and a call to order with quorum announcement. No specific budget figures were listed in the agenda.
On Aug. 19, the board held a public hearing to introduce the proposed tax rate and the proposed budget for the upcoming year. The hearing included a presentation by Carrales, but no dollar amounts or rate details were provided in the agenda.
At the regular meeting later that same day, the board is scheduled to adopt the 2026-2027 tax rate and related resolutions, including the no-new-revenue and voter-approval rates. The agenda also includes approval of the 2026-2027 Compensation Plan.
Contracts and other business
The regular meeting agenda includes approval of several cooperative vendor contracts exceeding $50,000:
- Labatt Food Service: $3,000,000
- Dairy Oak Farms: $700,000
Also up for renewal are speech therapy contracts with Kidz Treehouse ($254,992) and CTPA bilingual services ($195,712).
The board is also set to take possible action on RFP 26-004, the High School Athletic Track Resurfacing Project with Hellas Construction, Inc. A closed session was scheduled to discuss this contract.
Because minutes have not been published, it is not yet known whether these items were approved or amended.
