Boerne council agendas set stage for gas rates, park naming; upcoming hearings on Main Street demolition, fitness center variance

The City Council and a public facility board held meetings in late June, but no votes have been published yet. Residents have several opportunities this week to weigh in on development, historic properties, and tourism.

Recent meetings: agendas only

The Boerne City Council met June 23 and considered items including new rate classifications for city gas service (Ordinance No. 2026-03), adoption of the 2026 Rolling Ten Year Plan (Resolution No. 2026-R34), naming the new Northside Community Park (Resolution No. 2026-R33), and amendments to Ethics Review Commission officer rules (Ordinance No. 2026-02). A presentation on fiscal year 2027 budget considerations and the 2026 Plan of Finance was also given. Minutes from that meeting have not yet been published, so no decisions can be reported.

The Boerne Public Facility Corporation also met June 23. Its agenda was largely procedural, with approval of Aug. 12, 2025 meeting minutes and a briefing on the annual auditor’s report and financial statements. No policy changes were on the agenda.

Upcoming meetings with public hearings

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets Monday, July 6, at a time and location listed on the city’s agenda website. Commissioners will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the Unified Development Code affecting the Design Review Committee chapters. They will also consider a lot frontage variance request for a proposed Crunch Fitness site at Christus Parkway and Herff Road. The agenda includes election of a commission secretary and administration of oaths for new commissioners Lucas Charles Hiler and Chris Taylor, plus approval of June 1 meeting minutes.

On Tuesday, July 7, the Historic Landmark Commission will hold a public hearing and vote on a demolition permit and certificate of appropriateness for a new commercial building at 305-323 North Main Street. A separate certificate of appropriateness will be considered for a new commercial building at 701 North Main Street. The commission will also review a sign permit for Devino Cellars at 112 East San Antonio Avenue. Commissioners are scheduled to discuss the 2026 meeting calendar and rule updates.

Other upcoming meetings

The City Council has published two notices for this week stating that a quorum of members may be present at community events, but no official business will be conducted. On Sunday, July 5, council members may attend a community concert at Veterans Plaza. On Wednesday, July 8, a “Meet Your Local Elected Official Night” is scheduled at Tusculum Brewing Co. Neither event is a posted meeting, and no votes or agenda items will be processed.

The Visit Boerne Advisory Board will meet Thursday, July 9, to review hotel performance data, including Fair Market Share Reports and Smith Travel Research overviews. The board will also receive updates on marketing and advertising creative, influencer status, and general tourism trends.
