Boulder council to weigh eminent domain, $7.3M housing bonds at Aug. 20 meeting
The Boulder City Council held three meetings in the past two weeks, but none produced formal votes or decisions. The council is scheduled to take up property acquisitions, including eminent domain, and $7.3 million in housing bonds at its Aug. 20 regular meeting.
Recent meetings
Aug. 6 regular meeting — The council reviewed ordinances to place five questions on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot: a proposed vacancy excise tax on homes occupied 183 days or less per year; general obligation bonds for community recreation and safety infrastructure; a Home Rule Charter amendment for firefighter collective bargaining; formation of the Boulder Downtown Development Authority; and property acquisitions for the North 30th Street and South 30th Street Multimodal Improvements projects. Aug. 13 study session — The council discussed three items: a strategic planning check-in, a request for proposals for the Civic Area East Bookend development partnership, and a review of 2026 state and county ballot measures. The session was for discussion and direction only, with no formal votes scheduled.
Aug. 13 special meeting — The council held a single substantive item: a motion to enter executive session to receive confidential legal advice regarding potential new litigation. The rest of the agenda was procedural, and no public decisions were listed.
Upcoming Aug. 20 regular meeting
The council will hold public hearings on ordinances authorizing property acquisition, including eminent domain, for the North 30th Street and South 30th Street Multimodal Improvements Projects (Ordinances 8771 and 8772).
