Wheat Ridge boards weigh restaurant, pavilion naming, and trail grants
Three Wheat Ridge advisory boards met over the past two weeks to consider a new restaurant, a pavilion naming, and support for grant applications. No final decisions have been published yet, as minutes from these meetings are not yet available.
Planning Commission: Restaurant proposal at 3765 Johnson Street
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on Aug. 20 on a Specific Development Plan (SDP-25-1) for a 2,550-square-foot DOP's Sweet Spot restaurant at 3765 Johnson Street. The commission also approved minutes from its June 18 meeting and received project updates. Public comment was taken during the hearing. The commission's decision has not been released.
Parks & Recreation Commission: Pavilion naming and grant letters
The Parks and Recreation Commission met Aug. 19 to consider a proposal by Mayor Stites to name the seating pavilion at The Green at 38th after Dominick Breton. The commission also discussed letters of support for three grant applications:
- An ORLP grant for outdoor pool construction.
- A Jeffco Parks and Open Space Trails Partnership Program grant for Clear Creek Trail erosion and safety improvements.
- A Colorado Natural Disaster Mitigation Enterprise grant for Clear Creek Trail improvements.
In addition, the commission discussed a new policy that would require 24-hour public notice for meetings and end voting by email. No votes on these items have been published.
Cultural Commission: Grants, budget, and business awards
The Cultural Commission met Aug. 12 to handle routine business, including administering the ceremonial oath of office to new member Darla Okada. The commission received updates on the Community Grant Program, including new applications and private contributions to match grants for educational institutions. It also discussed city events partnerships, budget updates, and ideas for recognizing the commission through Business Awards. No policy decisions were listed on the agenda.
