Cleveland board holds budget, sewer, and street project meetings; no decisions published
The Cleveland Mayor and Board of Aldermen held three meetings in the past two weeks, but no official decisions have been published because minutes are not yet available. The board discussed the upcoming fiscal year budget, sewer rehabilitation bids, and a street project payment request, among other items.
Budget discussions and a recessed meeting
On Aug. 11, the board held a special meeting via Zoom to discuss the FYE 2027 budget. The agenda included approval to publish budget notices and budget discussions. No minutes have been published.
The next day, Aug. 12, the board held a recessed session of its regular meeting, also via Zoom. That meeting was ordered at the Aug. 11 meeting. The agenda listed no items for discussion or action, only the meeting's time, date, and format. The notice was posted in City Hall per Mississippi Code Annotated §25-41-13.
Sewer projects, claims, and a donation
On Aug. 17, the board held a regular meeting. The agenda included bid discussions for two sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects: the Fayette Davis project and the Jefferson Circle project. The board also considered a consent agenda that included:
- Approval of the August Claims Docket #1
- Approval of a pay request for the FYE 2026 Street Improvement Project (Roy Collins Construction Pay Request #3)
- Acceptance of a material donation of $23,416.00 from Roy Collins Construction, and proceeding with drainage improvements at $38,844.00 by Joe Reed & Co. for the South Ditch Piping Project
An executive session was scheduled for employee action recommendations and a litigation update.
