Escalon City Council, Economic Development Committee address development, infrastructure; no decisions reported
Escalon's City Council and Economic Development Committee met in late July and early August to consider development, infrastructure, and spending proposals. No decisions have been reported because minutes from these meetings have not yet been published. The Recreation Commission's Aug. 5 meeting was cancelled.
City Council holds public hearing on Murphy Ranch development
The City Council met Aug. 3 and conducted a public hearing on Development Application 24-797, known as "Murphy Ranch," which includes annexation and a specific plan. The council also considered the annexation and prezoning of city-owned property at 17341 Escalon Bellota Road.
Other items on the agenda included:
- Approval of the Register of Demands for July 14–27, 2026, in the amount of $467,405.02.
- Police Department funding for equipment and training through the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program.
- A proposed fee waiver for the Escalon Lions Club's use of the Community Center.

Economic Development Committee discusses Liberty Business Park investment
The Economic Development Committee met July 28 to provide feedback on using budget surplus and unassigned funds. A primary focus was potential infrastructure investment in Liberty Business Park to increase property tax revenue.
Proposals discussed included:
- $300,000 for planning, engineering, and entitlement work for Liberty Business Park.
- A $500,000 placeholder for physical infrastructure extension at the park.
- Creation of an Opportunity Fund for business incentive grants or infrastructure.
- Funding for corridor beautification and park improvements.
- Review of police retention and attraction incentives.
The committee also received updates from the first Economic Development Summit and reports on meetings with local businesses. No votes were reported.
Recreation Commission meeting cancelled
