Kingsford council approves $4M lead service line bond; review of recent city meetings
The Kingsford City Council approved a $4 million bond to fund lead service line replacements at its July 20 meeting, the largest financial decision among recent city actions. The council also authorized the sale of three city lots for duplex development and approved several sewer project payments.
City Council — July 20, 2026
Council approved Bond Ordinance #303 for Project #4 lead service line funding up to $4,000,000 in a 4-0 vote. The council also approved the sale of three city lots on Evergreen Ct to Josh McCole for duplex development, also on a 4-0 vote.
In other business, council members:
- Approved a $49,759.00 purchase of a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado patrol vehicle (unanimous).
- Approved $513,883.06 in bills payable from July 7 to July 20, 2026 (unanimous).
- Approved Pay Request #1 for Heights Lift Stations Contract A (unanimous).
- Approved Pay Request #4 and Change Order #1 for Ford Addition Sewer Contract B (unanimous).
- Rescheduled the Attainable Housing District public hearing to August 17, 2026 (unanimous).
- Approved July 6, 2026 meeting minutes (unanimous).
Board of Review — July 21, 2026
The Board of Review approved two poverty exemptions for residential properties:
- Kenneth Kiltinen at 220 Harrison Ave (unanimous).
- Marie Erickson at 218 Fulton St (unanimous).
The board also corrected the taxable status to exempt for 2025 and 2026 for Dickinson Co Pilot's Association at 500 Riverhills Rd (unanimous), and approved re-capping the 2025 taxable value and adjusting the 2026 value for inflation for Diana Sparapani at 408 Edsel (unanimous).
Planning Commission — July 27, 2026
The Planning Commission agenda included discussion of the proposed Attainable Housing Facilities Act Program Zone, which could provide tax exemptions ranging from 1 to 12 years. The commission also reviewed status updates on several infrastructure projects: Bancroft Street, E. Breen Avenue, Ford Addition, Hoadley Avenue, and Project #4. Minutes for this meeting have not yet been published, so no decisions are confirmed.
