Ottawa County Commissioners Approve $280,000 Jail Behavioral Health Grant, Drainage Project Increase, and Senior Bus Funding
Ottawa County Commissioners approved a $280,000 grant for behavioral health services at the county jail during their July 14 meeting, the largest single funding action across four regular sessions held over the past two weeks. All votes on every item listed below were 3-0.
Jail Health and Senior Services
The July 14 session included the $280,000 behavioral health services grant for the county jail and a $114,920 grant for a multi-passenger bus through Senior Resources. Earlier, on July 9, commissioners approved a $40,000 behavioral health contract supporting wraparound services for county families, and a $6,100 senior group tour to Millersburg.
Drainage and Construction Projects
On July 16, the board authorized Change Order No. 1 for the Mehlow Ditch Drainage Improvement Project, increasing the contract by $20,671.92 to a new total of $442,510.68. On July 9, commissioners approved a $770 increase for courthouse office renovation and a $3,889 decrease for healthcare campus PTAC repairs.
Voucher Payments
Commissioners approved two voucher reports: $552,213.35 covering July 2 and July 6 vouchers (approved July 7), and $257,579.98 approved July 16.
Security Upgrades and Utility Agreements
On July 14, the board authorized $4,096.05 for security panel replacement at OCTA and $13,406.79 for security panel replacement at the Ottawa County Resource Centre. The same session included adoption of Resolution No. 26-18 for Water Pollution Control loan fund signatories and a Utility Service Agreement with South Passage Condominium Association.
Personnel and Service Contracts
On July 7, the board hired Donna Boggs and Denise Meeker as full-time custodians at $16.00/hour each, and accepted the retirement of Randy Wilburn, part-time Electrical Inspector. Service contracts authorized that day included the Oak House contract for START Program staffing up to $72,000.00 and The Association for Private Counseling contract up to $12,000.00.
Comprehensive Plan Search
On July 9, commissioners approved a consultant search for a new Ottawa County Comprehensive Plan, which will guide future land use and infrastructure development.
