Davis County commissioners weigh $4M housing land purchase, censure vote, and budget amendments

Censure and chair rotation
On July 7, the Board of Davis County Commissioners was scheduled to consider a censure of Commissioner John Crofts and a rotation of the chair. The agenda also listed several contract approvals: an amendment with the Utah Air Show Foundation for a rescheduled air show in 2027, a $2,000 community health intervention funding agreement with Tanner Clinic, ratification of a $327,320 grant from the Indigent Defense Commission for indigent defense services, and annual limited use agreements for the Davis County Shooting Range covering three organizations. The board was also set to canvass the June 23 primary election and review the property tax register. Because minutes are not yet published, it is not known which items were approved.
Budget work session
A July 14 work session covered three discussion items with no final decisions expected. Commissioners were scheduled to discuss potential amendments to the 2026 operating and capital budgets, recommended by County Controller Scott Parke; a proposed change to the approval process for hiring and related actions; and position adjustment requests from the Sheriff's Office. Chiller contract, Children's Justice Center funding
Also on July 14, the board's regular agenda included consideration of the abatement register for property tax adjustments. A consent agenda listed a $120,454.77 contract with Holbrook Service, LLC for chiller replacement at the Sheriff's Office, a $388,704 FY27 pass-through funding amendment for the Davis County Children's Justice Center, and a $15,000 memorandum of understanding with the Utah ICAC Task Force for Fiscal Year 2027 between Davis County and the Utah Attorney General's Office. Additional items included a five-year professional services contract with Shums Coda Associates for building and fire plan examination at hourly rates of $50–$140. Outcomes are not yet confirmed pending publication of minutes.
