DeSoto Boards Tackle Cultural District, Zoning Cases, and Domestic Violence Programs

Domestic Violence Advisory Commission

DeSoto Development Corporation

The DDC and City Council held a joint retreat on July 10 to discuss strategic priorities. The agenda called for a strategic centering review from the January 2026 retreat, an organizational assessment presentation covering governance and cultural insights, and discussion of a "Pipeline" momentum dashboard for transformational projects. A six-month action plan addressing bold moves, political dynamics, and leadership transitions was also on the agenda. The body planned a closed executive session under Texas Government Code 551.071 for legal advice on nondisclosure obligations in economic development negotiations. Planning & Zoning Commission

The commission met July 14 to hold a public hearing on a Specific Use Permit for a minor automobile repair shop on 0.809 acres at 1027 E. Belt Line Road (Zoning Case Z-1545-26). The property is currently zoned General Retail but designated Medium Density Residential in the Comprehensive Plan.
