Fresno school board to weigh $13.8M arts report, food bank expansion at Aug. 26 meeting
The Fresno Unified School District Board of Education has not made any decisions in its past two meetings, which were routine communications sessions. The board's next regular meeting on Aug. 26 will include a vote on a $13.8 million arts funding report and several agreements, including a food bank expansion and construction change orders.

Aug. 12 – Board of Education Regular Meeting
The board heard a presentation on the district's new Strategic Plan through 2030 and the 2026/27 Annual Plan. The agenda also included consent items for emergency water intrusion mitigation at Tehipite Middle School ($110,000), a high-dosage literacy tutoring contract ($2,000,000), and a digital platform contract ($152,000 in year one, up to $1,790,250 over five years). Aug. 14 and Aug. 21 – Board Communications
Both meetings were routine communications with no action items. The Aug. 14 agenda included superintendent calendar highlights, a School Services of California weekly update, and a joint health management board financial report. The Aug. 21 agenda included the 2027 graduation schedule, an agreement with the Central California Food Bank, a certificated retiree contract for Thomas Donald, and a weekly financial report. No votes were scheduled.

The board will hold a regular meeting with a closed session at 4:30 p.m. and an open session at 6:10 p.m. at 2309 Tulare Street. The open session will include:
- **Proposition 28 Annual Report** – The board will consider approving the report with $13,796,650 in available funds for arts and music education.
- **Wallace Foundation MOUs** – Approving memoranda of understanding with partner organizations in the Equity-Centered Pipeline Initiative. The district is set to receive $600,000 in Year 6, approximately $4.6 million over six years.
- **Central California Food Bank agreement** – Ratifying a $108,415 agreement to expand food access at 23 school sites.
- **Construction change orders** – Ratifying change orders totaling $186,288 for various school construction projects.
- **Certificated retiree contract** – Ratifying a contract for Thomas Donald at Bullard High School ($41,368).
The board will also discuss the August 2026 Student Outcomes Monitoring Report and an overview of district pesticide management practices.
