Dothan Commission weighs $17M sewer project, pickleball payment; upcoming votes on school lease, rezoning
The Dothan City Commission met Aug. 4 and Aug. 6, but minutes from those sessions have not yet been published, so official decisions are not yet available. The Aug. 4 agenda included a pre-application for a $17 million sewer project and a final payment of $6.45 million for a pickleball complex, among other items. The Aug. 6 session was a work session on the city budget.

Aug. 4 meeting
The commission's agenda included several items, though no votes have been recorded because minutes are pending. Key items:
- A pre-application for $17,000,000.00 for the Trunk Line and Sewer Basin Improvements Project.
- A final contract amount of $6,450,632.39 to Lewis Construction, LLC for the Pickleball Court Complex.
- A grant application for $200,000.00 from the U.S. Department of Justice for a Real Time Crime Center Intelligence Analyst Program.
- A three-year agreement with ESRI, Inc. for GIS Software at an annual cost of $60,300.00.

Administrative meeting

Regular meeting
The commission will hold public hearings and vote on rezoning 29.8 acres at 374 Taylor Road from A-C to PUD. Other items include:
- Amending Chapter 82 (Solid Waste) to update the fee structure.
- An agreement with Ardurra Group for $3,046,160 for wastewater treatment plant upgrades.
- An agreement with Slate Communications for rebranding, not to exceed $89,840.
- Approving July 2026 invoices totaling $25,155,876.71.
The agenda also includes routine items such as approving minutes, invoices, and travel requests, as well as an appeal from a citizen barred from speaking.
