Gooding County approves $5,000 to fix broadband billing errors
The Gooding County Board of Commissioners approved spending up to $5,000 to correct accounting errors in broadband invoices during a special session on Aug. 6. The unanimous decision addresses misallocations from incorrect budget lines. The board also approved a $1,237.12 jail kitchen air conditioner replacement on Aug. 3.
Broadband billing corrections
At the Aug. 6 special session, the board approved up to $5,000 for Computer Arts to fix broadband invoice misallocations. The vote was unanimous. No other formal action was taken, though the board reviewed final numbers for the preliminary FY2027 budget.
Other decisions from Aug. 3
The board’s regular meeting on Aug. 3 included several decisions:
- Approved a $1,237.12 quote from BS&R Equipment Company to replace the jail kitchen air conditioner (motion carried).
- Decided to replace the K-9 vehicle engine rather than the entire vehicle.
- Directed Shelly Bates to send a list of unresolved ETS issues to ETS.
- Commissioner Eames will run Planning & Zoning applicant interviews on behalf of the board (motion carried).
- Approved the July 27, 2026 minutes (motion carried).
The board also discussed the City of Gooding’s armory property and heard an update on the broadband project, which is 85% complete with 940 locations connected. No final decisions were made on either topic.
Aug. 10 meeting agenda
The board met Aug. 10, but minutes have not yet been published. The agenda included a mileage resolution (Resolution 2026-8-10), the FY2026 Q4 July ITD Distribution of Funds Report, discussion of an early closure for the Fair/Parade on Aug. 19, the FY2027 budget, and executive sessions for indigent, personnel, and legal counsel matters.
Coming up
Today, Aug. 17, the board will hold a regular session. Agenda items include a request for building department testing expenses, a report writing software request, discussion of potential surplus ambulances with Bliss QRU, planning and zoning applicants, a SIRCOMM billing update, the treasurer’s cash summary, a parks and recreation grant closeout, and the FY2027 budget. Two executive sessions are scheduled for personnel matters and legal counsel communication, both closed to the public.
