South Pasadena council weighs $4M in transportation projects, staffing changes, and property negotiations
Council considers $4M+ in Measure M transportation funding
The South Pasadena City Council's July 13 regular meeting agenda called for decisions on a package of Measure M transportation funding reallocations and new projects totaling over $4 million. The proposed items included:
- Re-programming $200,000 for Grevelia/Fair Oaks
- De-obligating $800,000 from two projects
- Programming $1 million for Orange Grove Avenue Operational Improvements
- $600,000 for a roundabout at Marengo Avenue and Maple Street
- $600,000 for signal upgrades at Monterey/Indiana
- $150,000 at Garfield/Mission

Contracts and agreements
The agenda included an amendment to the Townsend Public Affairs contract for legislative advocacy and grant writing, increasing the total to $90,000 and extending through June 2027. The council also was set to consider a Joint Use Agreement with the South Pasadena Unified School District for shared use of City and District facilities.
Public hearing on weed abatement charges
A public hearing was scheduled to confirm Los Angeles County weed abatement charges for hazardous vegetation on unimproved private parcels.
Closed session: nine property negotiations
On July 9, the council met in closed session to discuss price and terms of payment for nine property negotiations:

- 1037 and 1039 Grevelia Street
- 530 and 534 Orange Grove Avenue
- 808 and 822 Valley View Road
- 540 Prospect Avenue, 435 S. Fair Oaks Avenue, and 1055 Lohman Avenue

Study session on council governance
Also on July 9, the council held a study session to develop comprehensive Rules of Procedure and Council Governance Policies. Topics included meeting procedures, public participation, agenda management, council communications, ceremonial recognitions, and committee assignments.
