Grants Pass council donates fire truck to Mexico, approves Riverside Park event; planning, parks, and art committees meet

The Grants Pass City Council adopted several resolutions at its July 15 meeting, including one authorizing the City Manager to donate a fire truck and miscellaneous fire equipment to Autlán de Navarro, Mexico. Urban Area Planning Commission — Eden Glen PUD

The Urban Area Planning Commission met July 8 to consider findings of fact for the Eden Glen Planned Unit Development (PUD) with major variances, File #105-00110-26 and 301-00165-26. No public hearing was scheduled for that meeting.

Minutes from the commission's June 24 meeting describe a public hearing on the Eden Glen PUD at 1907 Fruitdale Drive, which would include 20 townhomes and a private street. Two variance requests were heard: a 388-foot cul-de-sac (maximum allowed is 250 feet) and 24-foot paving width (standard is 26 feet). Deputy Fire Chief Hyatt testified in opposition, citing fire access concerns. No final decision was recorded in those minutes. The June 10, 2026 meeting minutes were approved 6-0, with the chair abstaining.

City Council Workshop — July 13

The council held a workshop covering lodging tax allocation, the Tourism Grant Program, and Owl Plaza. An executive session followed on labor negotiations. No decisions were noted from the workshop.

Green waste rate increase at Redwood Transfer Station

On June 29, the City Council scheduled a workshop followed by a special meeting to consider a motion authorizing the city manager to amend the franchise agreement with Southern Oregon Sanitation. The amendment would extend a temporary rate increase for green waste disposal at the Redwood Transfer Station from $6.50 to $16 per yard for six additional months. The workshop also included discussion of the Washington-Midland redevelopment opportunity plan, water incline rates, and council procedures.

Middle housing code and sign appeal (July 1)

The City Council scheduled two public hearings for July 1. The first concerns a sign code appeal for Dutch Bros/Les Schwab at 251 NE Agness Avenue in the General Commercial zoning district. The second addresses an ordinance amending Development Code Articles 2, 3, 12, 17, 27, and 28 to adopt Middle Housing Land Division regulations. The Urban Area Planning Commission provided a verbal recommendation on May 27, 2026 and a written recommendation on June 10, 2026. The council may adopt, reject, or refer the proposal for further review. Appeals to the Land Use Board of Appeals must be filed within 21 days of the council's written decision.
