Holdrege boards set tax, rezoning, and street bond items; minutes not yet published for recent meetings
Three Holdrege government bodies met over the past two weeks, but minutes have not yet been published for any of them, so outcomes of the items listed below are not confirmed. Agendas show what each body planned to consider.
City Council — July 7
The Council's agenda listed several items, including awarding a bid for the West 18th Avenue Improvement Project, considering requests from the Phelps County Fair Board, reviewing the Nebraska Prairie Museum's annual report and budget request, and adopting Resolution 2026-04 for a 3-year commitment to the League Association of Risk Management. The consent agenda included paying submitted claims and approving the June 16 minutes. Because minutes are not yet published, it is not known which items were approved or how any votes went.
Planning Commission — July 16
The Commission scheduled a public hearing on the Holdrege Restoration and Repair Redevelopment Plan and its conformance with city plans. Commissioners were set to adopt Planning Commission Resolution 2026-101 approving the redevelopment plan and CRA Resolution 2026-102 approving the redevelopment contract. The agenda also included a vote on rezoning Lots Pt. 1–6, Block 6, Holdrege Lincoln Addition from R-2 (multi-family residential) to C-3 (service commercial). A public forum for non-agenda comments was also listed, with no formal action expected. Outcomes are not yet confirmed.
Airport Authority — July 17
The Airport Authority agenda included Resolution 2026-02, which would establish the 2026/27 fiscal year tax request. The body also planned to discuss New Hangar Project 3-31-0042-018 and consider several payments: Summary of Project Costs No. 14 for $1,857.00, Progress Estimate No. 15E for $1,955.65 due to Benesch, and the Holdrege Aviation management fee. Whether these items were approved is not yet known.

City Council — July 21: The Council will hold a public hearing on the Holdrege Restoration and Repair Redevelopment Plan, Cost-Benefit Analysis, and contract, followed by a vote to approve the plan and contract for Tax Increment Financing. The Council will also award the bid for the West 18th Avenue Improvement Project and vote on Bond Ordinance 2497, which would authorize issuing up to $425,000 in highway allocation pledge bonds for street work. Consent agenda items include payment of claims and the June 2026 City Treasurer's Report.
