Indian River County meetings: Budget workshop, Vero Beach development reviews on the agenda
Indian River County boards and committees turned their attention this month to the next county budget and to several Vero Beach development proposals. Because minutes have not yet been published for the recent meetings below, the items reflect what was scheduled for discussion or action — not confirmed outcomes.
County Commission budget workshop
The Board of County Commissioners held a budget workshop July 8 to review proposed budgets across county funds, including the General Fund, Constitutional Officers, and Enterprise Funds such as solid waste, the golf course, and utilities. On the agenda was a motion to adopt a proposed aggregate millage rate of 6.1155 mills. Public hearings on the tentative and final budgets are scheduled for Sept. 9 and Sept. 16, 2026, respectively. The workshop agenda also listed review of Constitutional Officers' budgets, including the Sheriff, Clerk, and Tax Collector.
Technical Review Committee: storage, parking, and a town center
The Technical Review Committee met twice in July to review development proposals in Vero Beach.
At a July 6 session, the committee was scheduled to hold pre-application conferences for two projects:
- **Attic 60 Storage Expansion:** A proposal to divide a roughly 5-acre parcel at 8525 20th Street into two lots for commercial and outdoor storage use.
- **CCIRH Northeast Parking Lot Expansion:** A proposal to replace an unpaved lot at 1000 36th Street with an asphalt lot, adding 213 parking spaces.
At a July 15 session held via Microsoft Teams, the committee was set to review two quasi-judicial applications:
- A right-of-way abandonment for lots 50 and 51 along the Old Dixie Corridor at 3855 US Highway 1, filed by Drost Ventures LLC.
- A major site plan for Providence Pointe Town Center at 5950 49th Street, covering six buildings on tracts 15, 41, 63, and 64. The applicant is Schulke, Bittle & Stoddard, LLC.
Minutes for both TRC meetings have not yet been published.
