East Hampton Town Board approves $3.2M claims warrant; boards act on zoning, planning

The East Hampton Town Board approved a $3.2 million claims warrant and 46 other resolutions at its Aug. 6 regular meeting, the most significant financial action in the past two weeks. East Hampton Town Board approves $3.2M claims warrant; ZBA, Planning Board act on properties

The East Hampton Town Board approved a $3,248,089.83 claims warrant and adopted 47 resolutions unanimously at its Aug. 6 regular meeting, with Deputy Supervisor David Lys absent. The board also closed public hearings on stormwater discharge permitting and emergency turnarounds in common driveways. In other action, the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board made decisions on several property applications over the past two weeks.

Town Board actions

At the Aug. 6 regular meeting, the board approved Warrant No. 8A for claims totaling $3,248,089.83. It also adopted resolutions amending Chapter 220 on stormwater discharge permitting and on emergency turnarounds in common driveways, after closing the related public hearings with no public comment. Other unanimous approvals included an RFP for appraisal services for the Community Preservation Fund and Housing & Community Development, a bid for a Parks & Recreation tractor from All Island Equipment Corp., and a license agreement with Sound Aircraft Services for airport parking spaces. The board rejected a bid for Springs Park Restoration (EH26-031) and rescinded Resolution 2026-1107.

During the public portion, residents raised concerns about water contamination at the Cove Hollow battery storage facility, a proposed parking lot near Pussy's Pond, and the purchase of properties at 549 and 550 Wainscott Northwest Road.

At the Aug. 4 work session, the board unanimously appointed an additional member to the E.H. It closed public hearings for Peter Bickford (248 Old Stone Highway) and for Kenneth & Margaret Farrell (75 Ely Brook to Hands Creek Road), keeping the Farrell record open through July 28, 2026. The record for Kevin Gaddi (273 Old Montauk Highway) was also kept open until that date.

Planning Board adopts road assignment for 25 Harbor Boulevard

The East Hampton Town Planning Board voted 5-0 on July 22 to adopt a road assignment for an Urban Renewal project at 25 Harbor Boulevard in Springs. The board also approved a waiver of open space design standards for the Porzio subwaiver, determined no archaeological study is necessary for that subwaiver, and agreed to charge fees in lieu of parking for the 45 South Euclid II project. The board adjourned the 79 South Emerson Condo Conversion site plan at the applicant's request and adopted its July 8, 2026 minutes as amended, 5-0.

Zoning Board approves Bluff Road modification, sends Marram Hotel to hearing

On July 28, the Zoning Board of Appeals approved a modification for Bluff Road Associates at 325 Bluff Road and approved a resolution for Brett Loscalzo at 149 Mulford Lane. For Bob MCEntee at 22 Shore Road, the board approved a partial modification but denied the driveway, stairs, and stone walkways portions of the request. The board decided that a modification for the Marram Hotel at 21 Oceanview Terrace must go to a public hearing.

The board also closed the public hearing for Peter Bickford at 248 Old Stone Highway and closed the public hearing for Kenneth and Margaret Farrell at 75 Ely Brook to Hands Creek Road, keeping the record open through July 28, 2026. The record for Kevin Gaddi at 273 Old Montauk Highway was kept open until July 28, 2026. The board approved draft minutes from July 7, 2026.

Architectural Review Board approves three applications

The Architectural Review Board met July 23 and approved a commercial change for the Sea Crest Clubhouse at 2166 Montauk Highway in Amagansett, a fence submission for Chloe Gottlieb at 19 Harbor View Drive in East Hampton, and a Certificate of Occupancy for Alex deHavenon at 4 Lynda Lane in East Hampton. A submission for Wainscott Farm View LLC at 6 Osborn Farm Lane in Wainscott was administratively postponed. The board also approved minutes from its July 9, 2026 meeting.

Town Board discusses Springs conservation easement

At its July 16 regular meeting, the Town Board unanimously approved a $9,205,472.19 utility claim. The board also accepted food delivery bid EH26-036 from Mivila Foods of NY, Inc. and food service/kitchenware bid #EH26-035 from Sam Tell and Son Inc. and W.B. Mason, both unanimously. Joseph Loffreno was appointed full-time automotive equipment operator, and the board terminated a seasonal lifeguard position in the Recreation Department. Special events for July and August 2026 were approved as amended on a 3-to-0 vote after David Lys recused himself.

On July 7, the board voted 4-1 to authorize legal action against the owners of the Ranch at 8 Old Montauk Highway.
