Arts Committee Approves 2027-2028 Gallery Themes; Council to Vote on School Resource Officer Agreement
The Cultural Affairs and Arts Advisory Committee approved themes and display schedules for the 2027 and 2028 art galleries at its July 20 meeting, the only local government body in the past two weeks with published minutes confirming decisions.
Cultural Affairs and Arts Advisory Committee — July 20
The committee unanimously approved the 2027-2028 Art Gallery themes and schedules. Members also recommended a trial use of an "Art Review Cheat Sheet" as a jurying criteria sheet for the art review process. Approval of the June 15, 2026 meeting minutes was also unanimous.
These decisions set what gallery visitors will see over a two-year cycle and introduce a standardized tool for evaluating art submissions.
Planning & Zoning Commission — July 27
The commission was scheduled to discuss and act on a Conditional Use Permit (CUP 26-02) for an existing 99-foot wireless facility at 44870 W. Hathaway Ave. The agenda also included approval of minutes from the June 22, 2026 meeting (MIN 26-45) and a presentation on mid-year permitting status for the Planning and Zoning Division (PRES 26-14), which was listed for discussion only. A possible executive session for legal advice on agenda items was also noted.
Minutes from this meeting have not yet been published, so outcomes on the conditional use permit and other items cannot be confirmed.
