Manchester board to weigh bond defeasance, park grant; no votes recorded this week
No final decisions were recorded in Manchester this week. All four recent meetings were agenda-only, with minutes not yet published, and the most consequential action items are set for the Board of Aldermen’s Aug. 17 regular meeting, including a bond defeasance and a park grant application.
Board of Aldermen (Aug. 3)
The Board of Aldermen’s Aug. 3 agenda included routine procedural items, two appointments to the Tree Advisory Board, and introduction of two bills. Deanna Taylor was listed for appointment and Mike Stemmler for reappointment to the Tree Advisory Board. Bill No. 26-2582 was introduced for defeasance of a portion of outstanding general obligation bonds, and Bill No. 26-2581 was considered for biennial adoption of a conflict-of-interest policy. The agenda also included a discussion item on e-bikes, e-scooters, and alternative vehicles (item 23-49).
Board of Aldermen work session (Aug. 6)
A work session was held Aug. 6 with a single discussion item: the Manchester Road pedestrian bridge. The agenda included only that topic plus standard procedural items such as call to order, pledge, roll call, and adjournment.
Veterans Commission (Aug. 11)
The Veterans Commission met Aug. 11 to approve minutes from June 8, 2026, and discuss volunteer schedules for Flags of Valor/America’s Heartland Remembers. Members also discussed a shortened POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony program and a homecoming booth scheduled for Sept. 11-12 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. An update on collaboration with James Labit was on the agenda. Budget discussions were deferred to September.
Board of Adjustment (Aug. 13)
The Board of Adjustment met Aug. 13 to consider one variance request, Case #26-V-001, for 1830 Stone Canyon Circle. The Bannisters seek relief from the side-yard setback requirement under Section 405.200.E.2.a to build a first-floor addition. The board also was to approve minutes from July 10, 2025, and hear a staff report.
