Minneola boards review parks, permits, and subdivision plans
The Minneola City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission held meetings over the past two weeks. Their agendas included a potential park on a city-owned parcel, a tire shop permit, and preliminary subdivision plats. Minutes have not yet been published, so no decisions are reported.
City Council workshop on parks (July 28)
The City Council held a workshop to discuss potential parks and recreation uses for the city-owned 31.65-acre parcel at the corner of N. Hancock Road and Keystone Pass Boulevard. No formal action was scheduled; the item was for discussion only.
Planning & Zoning Commission (August 3)
The Planning & Zoning Commission agenda included a conditional use permit for Mavis Tire, located west of US Highway 27 and south of Vino Road (Resolution 2026-06). It also reviewed facade and roof material variances for Ace Hardware at the southeast corner of Grassy Lake Road and Citrus Grove Road (Resolution 2026-10) and a rear yard setback variance for 250 Gentle Breeze Drive (Resolution 2026-11). The commission also considered approval of its July 6, 2026 meeting minutes.
City Council regular meeting (August 4)
The City Council reviewed preliminary subdivision plats for two residential projects. The first, Sugarloaf Pod A (The Prominence at Sugarloaf) at CR 455, would create 773 lots on 316.91 acres. The second, The Palms at Minneola, is planned south of Education Avenue. Both plats are preliminary, meaning they are not final approvals.
The council also considered an emergency purchase for repairs to the Causey Road Lift Station Generator Set from Cummins Sales and Service for $10,320.77. It reviewed a fifth amendment to the interlocal agreement with Lake County for library services through September 30, 2027.
