Missouri City agendas take up $1.5M Robinson Road contract, church permits and assembly-use zoning
Missouri City's City Council, its Planning and Zoning Commission and a city-firefighters negotiating session all met over the past two weeks, with agendas covering road construction contracts, zoning rules for places of assembly, and several church-related permit requests. Minutes for all four meetings have not been published, so this roundup describes what was scheduled for discussion or action — not what was decided. No vote tallies or outcomes appear in the records available.
Robinson Road contract and trailhead work
The City Council's regular meeting on Oct. 5 listed a construction contract with ARS Construction for Robinson Road Street Reconstruction for $1,522,308. The same agenda listed a contract with GameTime for First Colony Trailhead redevelopment not to exceed $245,444, and a second and final reading of an ordinance for a Planned Development District on 8.501 acres for detention and utility uses.
The agenda also scheduled public hearings on zoning amendments to PD #8, PD #60 and PD #99 to remove places of assembly uses, and authorization for the Police Department to accept a donated K9 and handler training from K9s.org.
Special district partnership expectations
A City Council special meeting the same day, Oct. 5, listed a presentation from Interim City Manager Allen Bogard on expectations and timelines for strategic partnership agreements with one or more special districts. The agenda also scheduled a closed executive session covering the duties of the Interim City Manager, City Attorney and City Secretary; real property for roadways, water easements and a city services campus; and legal advice on places of assembly uses, a personnel claim and the Parks Administration building.
Firefighters ground rules
On Oct. 8, the City and the Missouri City Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 4063, were scheduled to meet and confer. Agenda items were possible action to adopt ground rules for the negotiations and discussion of scheduling future meetings.
Churches, schools and plats at Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 14 listed a public hearing on replatting 4502 Henry Watts Rd with a variance for private water and wastewater systems. It also listed a request by Destiny Church to extend its development schedule by 10 years through Specific Use Permit #211, and a request by St. Joseph Syro Malabar Catholic Church to add approximately 2.0025 acres to SUP #175.
Also on that agenda: a proposed repeal of seven Specific Use Permits for churches, schools and places of assembly, and plat applications for Parkway West Avenue, Parkway West Reserve and Fort Bend Parkway Business Park Phase 3.
