Moraga Boards Tackle Home Additions, Park Master Plan, and Public Art in July Meetings
Three Moraga advisory bodies met earlier this month on residential permits, park planning, and public art. All three sessions are listed as agenda-only — minutes have not yet been published, so outcomes and any votes taken are not yet part of the public record.
Zoning Administrator Considers Two Home Additions
The Moraga Zoning Administrator held public hearings July 9 on two residential addition projects, both requiring Administrative Design Review and Conditional Use Permits.
The first project (ADR-13-26, UP-01-26) is a 143-square-foot second-story addition at 1206 Rimer Drive. The second (ADR-21-26, UP-02-26) is a 298-square-foot infill addition at 156 Cypress Point Way. Both properties are in the 3-DUA Residential zoning district.
Both projects are categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under Section 15301, which covers existing facilities. The meeting was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the Pear Conference Room at 329 Rheem Boulevard.
Because minutes are not yet available, the Zoning Administrator's decisions on these permits are not confirmed in the record.
Park & Recreation Commission Reviews Master Plan Direction
On July 13, the Park & Recreation Commission was set to review the Parks and Open Space Master Plan following direction from the Town Council. That Council direction calls for eliminating pickleball, a stadium, and stadium lights at Rancho Laguna Park from the plan.
The Commission was also scheduled to receive an update on the Rancho Laguna Park picnic table project, including a project plan and location map.
No minutes have been published, so it is not yet known what the Commission recommended or discussed beyond the agenda items.
Art in Public Spaces Committee Reviews Sculpture Sites and Pear Festival Prep
The Art in Public Spaces Committee met July 16 to discuss several public art items. The agenda included approval of a Doug Heine sculpture location, a Pear Commission update, photos of bandshell mural banners and cement lions, and a sculpture locations trail map.
The committee's preparations for the Pear Festival were also on the agenda. Minutes are not yet published, so actions taken on these items are not confirmed.
