North Richland Hills boards tackle budget season, police purchases, and data center zoning
North Richland Hills residents saw a packed two weeks of public meetings, but official minutes have not yet been published for any of them. What follows is drawn from the agendas posted for each meeting; the city's published minutes, when available, will be the authoritative record of what was actually decided.
City Council: purchases, bond language, and FY2027 budget
The City Council had two meetings on the calendar. A July 27 work session agenda listed discussion of 2026 certified taxable values and proposed language for a November 2026 bond election. The regular meeting agenda that same day included public hearings on a revision to Planned Development 35 for a Wing Aviation LLC project and on zoning amendments for data center facilities under Ordinance 3965.
The consent agenda listed several dollar figures: purchase of four police-equipped motorcycles for $184,245.60 from Longhorn Harley-Davidson; renewal subscriptions for license plate reader devices using anti-gang grants totaling $481,110.53 for the cities of Plano and Forney; an ordinance amending alcohol sale distance variance on 8.443 acres in the 9000 block of Mid-Cities Boulevard; and a School Resource Officer Sergeant Shared Services Agreement with Birdville ISD for 2026-2027.
A July 31 council work session was devoted to the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 operating budget, capital budget, and Park and Recreation Facilities Development Corporation operating and capital budgets, plus submission of the July 2026 Appraisal Roll.
Crime Control and Prevention District Board
Also on July 31, the Crime Control and Prevention District Board held a budget work session on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget. The agenda noted the meeting was open to public comments but that no public hearing was scheduled, and no specific actions or decisions were listed. The proposed budget was stated to be available on the city's website.
Planning and Zoning Commission
On July 20, the Planning and Zoning Commission agenda included a public hearing on TR26-04 regarding data center zoning, a work session on future agenda items, and an executive session for legal advice.
Zoning Board of Adjustment
The July 23 agenda for the Zoning Board of Adjustment included a public hearing on variance request ZBA26-0027 for the property at 6704 Nob Hill Court, filed by Dennis Rogers. The request seeks a variance from Section 118-313 of the city zoning ordinance concerning lot and area requirements and the front building line.
