Ocean Ridge Commission reviews budget, turf rules, code case

Budget workshop

Artificial turf ordinance and other business
At the regular commission meeting on Aug. 3, the commission considered Ordinance 2026-02, which would update water-efficient landscaping and artificial turf requirements for residential properties of one acre or less. The agenda also included:
- Presentation of the FY 25 audit
- Insurance for the town via Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust
- Workers' compensation insurance via Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust
- First Amendment to the PBC Radio Agreement R2021-1427
The meeting also included the swearing-in of Commissioner Lanette Gustafson.
Code enforcement hearing
The Special Magistrate held a hearing on Aug. 4 regarding Case No. CS2026-0111, a vegetation removal violation at Portofino at Ocean Ridge Condo Assn, Inc., 5855 N Ocean Blvd. The alleged violation is removal of vegetation without a permit (Sec. 66-161). The magistrate also considered approval of the July 7, 2026, regular meeting minutes.
