Poughkeepsie Council Hears Public on Short-Term Rentals; Several Boards Set to Act on Bonds, Zoning, and Parking
The Poughkeepsie Common Council held a public hearing July 7 on a proposed local law amending short-term rental regulations and adding chickens and bees as permitted uses, but took no votes or formal decisions during that session, according to official minutes.
Most other meetings on the city's July calendar were listed as agenda-only, with minutes not yet published. That means the items below show what boards planned to consider, not what they ultimately decided. Outcomes will be confirmed when official minutes are released.
Common Council — July 7 and July 14
The July 7 agenda included a resolution authorizing issuance of serial bonds for the Albany Street Combined Sewer Overflow Rehabilitation Project, appointments to the Dutchess County-Poughkeepsie Land Bank, a local law (LL-26-07) to reduce the citywide speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph, an ordinance (O-26-04) amending two-hour parking on Dutcher Place, and a 30-day advance notice of a New York State liquor license from Nelly Latin Restaurant.

The commission was scheduled to consider a Certificate of Appropriateness application to place solar panels on the roof of a single-family home at 104 Academy Street. The property owner is Haeng Soo Lee, the applicant is Trinity Solar, represented by Sarah Yarbrough, and the property is in the RNA zoning district. The commission also planned to select a Vice-Chair.
