Rialto Council Considers $1.16 Million Fire Station Upgrade, Annual Budget
The Rialto City Council is weighing a $1.16 million contract for interior improvements to Fire Station 201 as part of its consideration of the proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget. The council reviewed the spending plan and several infrastructure contracts during its June 23 meeting, though no formal decisions have been published.
The agenda items, which also include a nearly $900,000 engineering services agreement and a $729,782 solar lighting project, are among the most significant proposals currently before Rialto’s elected and appointed bodies. None of the recent meetings have released minutes, meaning all items remain under consideration.
Budget and infrastructure on council agenda
The City Council’s June 23 agenda centered on the fiscal year 2026-27 annual budget and capital improvement program. The public hearing covered the proposed spending blueprint and a series of service agreements and contracts.
Among them: a $1,160,417 contract with R Dependable Construction Inc. for Fire Station 201 interior improvements; an $891,999.84 professional services agreement with CASC Engineering and Consulting; and a $729,782.74 task order with St Francis Electric for the Cactus Trail Solar Light Project. The council is also considering placing sewer service charges on the county property tax roll.
Development proposals draw attention
Two other city bodies reviewed land-use and economic development items, including a proposed truck yard and a 95-room hotel.
On June 25, the Economic Development Committee discussed a new truck yard proposed by Truck Terminal Properties, LLC, along with an amendment to the Gateway Specific Plan on East Valley Boulevard. The committee also reviewed a food truck event application and received status reports on planning entitlements, building and safety plan reviews, and business licenses.
On July 1, the Planning Commission took up a request for a 56,317-square-foot, four-story hotel on 2.68 acres north of Renaissance Parkway near Alder Avenue. The project would require a conditional development permit and a precise plan of design covering site paving, landscaping, and drainage.
Water, sewer projects in focus
The Water Subcommittee met on June 25 to review several infrastructure and utility updates. Discussion items included progress on capital improvement projects, the Cactus Basin Recharge, the septic-to-sewer conversion project, and the Bloomington Business Park Extraterritorial Agreement. Members also received an update on the FEMA/Cal OES Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
