Norwell boards weigh septic variance, garage appeal, and Jett Foundation retreat campus
Several Norwell boards convened in late July to take up land-use decisions, appointments, and public health matters. Because minutes have not yet been published for any of the recent meetings, outcomes of votes and hearings are not yet confirmed in the public record.
Board of Health — July 20
The Board of Health was scheduled to consider a request from Merrill Engineers to reduce the vertical separation from inlet and outlet tees to high groundwater for a septic system at 126 Tiffany Road. The agenda also listed an update on E. coli water contamination, a request to confirm an empirical water usage methodology for 111 Pond Street, review of a new VNA contract, and a staffing update.
The meeting was set to begin with approval of minutes from June 3 and June 8, 2026, and a welcome for new Health Agent Kayla Smith.
Advisory Board Nominating Committee — July 29
The committee was scheduled to interview five candidates — Jason Connolly, Sthefano Piassa, Seth Rosensweig, Kara Vautour, and Matt Weimann — for two vacant at-large seats on the Advisory Board. The committee planned to vote to appoint two new members for three-year terms expiring June 30, 2029, filling vacancies left by Bob Perniola and Matt Weimann.
Board of Appeals — July 29
The Board of Appeals held a business meeting at 7:00 p.m. followed by two continued public hearings.
The business meeting agenda included approval of minutes from July 15, 2026, and review of invoices for Chessia Consulting services at 48 Jacobs Lane, 295R Washington Street, and 136 Longwater Drive. The board also planned to review a chair report and discuss bylaw changes proposed by the Planning Board.
107 Parker Street variance
The first public hearing, scheduled for 7:20 p.m., concerned a variance request to build an 11' x 21' third garage bay at 107 Parker Street, positioned 13'2" from the property line where 20' is required.
390/390B Circuit Street site plan
The second hearing, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., involved site plan review for the Jett Foundation's proposed educational retreat campus on 9.176 acres at 390/390B Circuit Street. Phase 1 of the project includes a 10,845 sq. ft. two-story retreat center, a new driveway, and a 30-space parking lot (26 regular plus 4 handicap-accessible spaces). Phase 1 demolition would remove a 1.5-story wood stable and a one-story wood cottage.
Future phases listed on the agenda include four 800 sq. ft. cabins, an animal therapy barn, an aquatic therapy indoor pool, and a staff facility.

Board of Appeals — August 5, 2026: The board will hold a business meeting to approve minutes and process invoices, including Chessia Consulting invoices for 48 Jacobs Lane, 295R Washington Street, and 136 Longwater Drive, and an Adobe Acrobat subscription invoice for $139.00. The board will enter executive session with Town Counsel to discuss legal strategies related to recent changes in 40A. No public hearings are scheduled.
