Stoughton boards eye intersection projects, school building votes, and anniversary events in busy July stretch
Stoughton's boards and committees covered a wide range of business over the past two weeks, from potential road intersection improvements to school building project votes and preparations for the town's 300th anniversary celebrations. All meetings listed below are agenda-only — minutes have not yet been published, so items reflect what was scheduled for discussion or action, not confirmed outcomes.
Select Board: Intersection projects, licenses, and personnel sessions
The Select Board met multiple times between July 20 and July 29. The July 28 agenda included updates on the Pleasant Street and Lincoln Street intersection project and the School Street and Pearl Street intersection improvements, with possible votes listed. The board was also scheduled to discuss the FY27 Fall Town Meeting and hold public hearings on a change of license manager for TGI Fridays at 2 Hawes Way and a joint National Grid and Verizon utility pole petition on Morton Street.
Three other Select Board sessions were limited to executive sessions: two for strategy on non-union personnel negotiations (July 20 and July 23) under G.L. c. 30A, Section 21(a)(2), and one on July 29 to discuss the reputation, character, or discipline of the Police Chief and the Town Manager under G.L. c. 30A, Section 21(A)(1). School Building Committee: Proposals, invoices, and dashboard review
The Elementary School Building Committee was scheduled to vote on new proposals, RTAs, and amendments on July 21, and to consider authorizing subcommittee approval of invoices and CCDs. The agenda also included approval of the June invoice package and a review of the monthly dashboard covering budget, procurement, schedule, and MSBA updates.
Conservation Commission: Public hearings on septic, sewer, and road projects
The Conservation Commission held public hearings on July 23 on three Notices of Intent: a septic system repair at 107 Corbett Road (Elizabeth Leary), a road layout and sewer extension at 295 Canton Street (M & D Core, Inc.), and a grease trap and sewer system at 99 Central Street. The agenda also included requests for a Final Certificate of Compliance for 1164 Turnpike Street, discussion of ATV prohibition signage, and a petition regarding land stewardship at Muddy Pond.
A July 27 Conservation Commission agenda listed the same hearings as continuations and added a Perma-Line sign fabrication and delivery invoice for $1,889.25.
Board of Health: Litigation strategy session
The Board of Health met July 23 at Town Hall and virtually. The open session included approval of April 30, 2026 executive session minutes, followed by an executive session to discuss litigation strategy in Kelley v. Board of Health.
300th Anniversary Committee: Events planned for fall
The Stoughton 300th Anniversary Committee met July 27 to plan three upcoming events: Brockton Rox Night on August 8, 2026, Stoughton 300th Day on October 3, 2026, and the Stoughton 300th Gala on November 21, 2026. The agenda also included approval of prior minutes, committee chair updates, and a treasurer report.
Other meetings
The Energy & Sustainability Committee met July 23 to prepare for a possible Summer Movie Night, discuss any actions relative to a Special Town Meeting, and hear a summary of the Mass Energy Conference from Molly Cochran. The Redevelopment Authority's July 23 agenda contained only procedural boilerplate with no actionable items.
