Water Resource District approves $63,050 bridge bid; county boards set budget, drainage work
The Traill County Water Resource District accepted a $63,050 construction bid for Bridge No. 55 and unanimously approved its preliminary 2027 budget at a July 21 meeting, making infrastructure and budget planning the most consequential local actions over the past two weeks.
Water Resource District: Bridge, budget, and drain inspections
On July 21, the board voted unanimously to accept a $63,050 bid from John Riley Construction for Bridge No. 55, pending Riverview approval. Members also unanimously approved the preliminary 2027 budget, pledged assets from Dakota Heritage Bank, First State Bank of Buxton, and Goose River Bank, and abated $252.23 for the William Brunsdale Living Trust, parcel #17-0000-02730-002. Payment of bills and electronic fund transfers was approved unanimously, as were the July 7 meeting minutes.
A day earlier, on July 20, the district held a special meeting to inspect legal drains throughout Traill County. The board identified 21 specific drains requiring spraying and/or tree removal as noted on the 2026 spray map. Drain maintenance contracts and tree removal projects were reported at the July 21 meeting.
Traill County EDC: Growth Fund transfer, mileage rate on agenda
The Traill County Economic Development and Tourism Board met July 21 for its business meeting, with board action required on the treasurer's report, checks, and several new business items. Agenda items included a transfer from the operating budget to the Traill Growth Fund, a motion to update the mileage rate, and new committee assignments. Unfinished business updates covered the Riverview Dairy project, housing, and the Mayor and Auditor's Summit, along with a budget update. Minutes for this meeting have not yet been published, so outcomes are not yet confirmed.
County Commission: Red River Water Supply Project letter on agenda
The Board of Commissioners met July 21 to discuss budgets, Home Rule, and windows and fuel tanks. The agenda included a motion to sign a letter rescinding the MOC to the Red River Water Supply Project. Commissioners also planned to set a county budget meeting date between September 7 and October 7 and consider appointments regarding highway updates, ambulance district budgeting, and the Red River Basin. Minutes have not yet been published, so decisions are not yet confirmed.
