Hyde Park officials weigh zoning overhaul, reinvestment agency; Schreiber Foods annexation hearing set
Hyde Park's City Council and Planning Commission held a busy stretch of meetings this month focused on land use, zoning, and economic development — but residents will need to wait for published minutes to learn what was actually decided. All recent meeting records available are agendas only; minutes have not yet been posted.
City Council considers Community Reinvestment Agency
On July 22, the City Council was scheduled to consider Ordinance 2026-13, which would create the Hyde Park Community Reinvestment Agency. The council was also set to act on two land use ordinances previously discussed by the Planning Commission:
- **Ordinance 2026-10**: Revising and standardizing Land Use and Development definitions in Title 12.
- **Ordinance 2026-11**: Closing new applications for R2 and MXD zones and repealing the RT zone.
The council's agenda also included a Safe Route to School proposal for Old Ephraim Middle School and Resolution 2026-16, which would define a game of chance for use in midterm election ties.
Before the regular meeting, the council and Planning Commission held a joint workshop on the General Plan and the Active Transportation & Parks Plan.
Because minutes have not been published, the outcomes of these items — including any votes — are not yet available.
Planning Commission takes up zoning definitions and zone repeals
On July 15, the Planning Commission held public hearings on the same two ordinances the City Council later considered. Ordinance 2026-10 addresses additions and changes to land use definitions in Title 12. Ordinance 2026-11 would close new zoning applications and amendments for the R2, RT, and MXD zones.
The commission also discussed a rezone criteria proposal, use table revisions labeled "2.0," and a water rights dedication revision. Public testimony was accepted in person or via written comment to [email protected].
Minutes from this meeting have not been published, so no decisions or recommendations are confirmed.
