Kanosh Town Council to weigh flood mitigation contract, water fund transfers
The Kanosh Town Council has three meetings on its calendar this month, all focused on flood response and water funding. No decisions have been published yet, as minutes from the meetings have not been released. The most consequential item is a proposed emergency flood mitigation contract, which the council will consider at a special meeting on August 19.
Flood mitigation contract and plan
The council will hold a special meeting on August 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Kanosh Town Hall to review proposals from engineering firms and award a contract for emergency flood mitigation. The agenda also includes discussion and possible approval of the Town Flood Plan. The meeting will open with an invocation by Council Member Josh Whitaker and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Council Member Dan DeGraffenried.
Budget amendment and enterprise fund transfers
At its regular meeting on August 12 at 7:00 p.m., the council will consider a resolution for a budget amendment and enterprise fund transfer, as well as a resolution for an emergency declaration extension and interfund loan. The agenda also includes flood abatement measures, a flood mitigation plan proposal from Brad Freeman, a review of electrical rates with a possible reset of the surcharge, and a follow-up on the Well Project. The council will also hear department reports, review utility delinquencies, and take public comments.
Public hearings on water fund transfers
Two public hearings are scheduled before the regular meeting on August 12 at Kanosh Town Hall (55 North Main Street). The first, at 6:30 p.m., concerns proposed transfers of Capital Project funds and Electric Enterprise Fund money into the Water Enterprise Fund. The second, at 6:45 p.m., will consider a budget amendment to incorporate those transfers and adjust other budget line items. Residents are invited to attend and comment.
