Riverton adopts two Redwood Road rezones; council weighs major multifamily proposal next

Council adopts two rezoning ordinances along Redwood Road

The Riverton City Council adopted two ordinances at its July 21, 2026 meeting that rezone parcels along South Redwood Road from lower-density to higher-density residential use.

Ordinance No. 26-17 (George Rezone, PLZ-26-4001) rezones 1.80 acres at 12345 and 12363 South Redwood Road from RR-22 (single-family residential, half-acre minimum lots) to RM-6 (detached single-family, 5,000-square-foot minimum lots, up to 6 units per acre).

Ordinance No. 26-18 (Prince Rezone, PLZ-26-4005) rezones 1.80 acres across two 0.90-acre parcels at 12341 and 12389 South Redwood Road from RR-22 to RM-6.

Both items were listed as public hearing and action items on the July 21 agenda. The council's adoption notices confirm the ordinances were passed. Minutes have not yet been published, so vote tallies are not available.

Other July 21 agenda items

The July 21 work session and regular meeting agenda also listed several other items for consideration, though only the two rezone ordinances have confirmed adoption notices:

Work session discussion topics included a Zions Bank economic presentation, a water smart metering update, and parking ticket policy. Because minutes are not yet published, the outcomes of these items are not confirmed.

Council quorum dinner notice

On August 1, 2026, the city posted a notice that a quorum of the City Council would attend a dinner at Benihana, 13253 S. Teal Ridge Way, J190. The notice stated no action would be taken on any items.
