Saratoga Springs faces proposed 50.03% property tax hike; recent meeting outcomes pending
Saratoga Springs residents face a proposed 50.03% property tax increase up for public hearing on August 11, while recent City Council and Planning Commission meetings on land development, transportation, and zoning await published minutes.
All five recent meetings between July 21 and July 30 were agenda-only items with minutes not yet published, so outcomes — including votes on a sidewalk maintenance program, land development code amendments, and a development agreement for the Saratoga View Assisted Living Center — are not yet confirmed in the public record.
City Council — July 21
The Council agenda included a development agreement amendment for Saratoga View Assisted Living Center at 1429 N. Utah Cottage Drive, amendments to Title 19 Land Development Code Chapter 19.14 for phased non-residential site plans, amendments to Chapter 19.19 for open space minimum required amenities, Resolution R26-43 regarding a Program for the Inspection and Maintenance of Sidewalks, and an update to the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual (Ordinance 26-32).
Wetlands Restoration Open House — July 27
An open house was scheduled for July 27 from 12–1 p.m. at City Hall, 319 S. Saratoga Rd, Council Chambers (4th Floor), to discuss a proposed project to reestablish wetlands along the western shoreline of Utah Lake. The project would rehabilitate wetlands altered by invasive species and human activity and compensate for impacts from construction of the Utah Lake Shoreline Trail and the South and North Marina projects.
Interlocal Transportation Workshop — July 30
The City Council was scheduled to attend an interlocal workshop with Eagle Mountain to discuss regional transportation projects, including updates on the Lake Mountain Corridor (a UDOT facility formerly called Mid Valley Road) and the Silverlake Parkway to Bonneville Drive connection. Additional items listed if time permitted: Pony Express Parkway widening to 7 lanes, Inverness Lane to Talus Ridge Drive connection, and Wild Blossom Boulevard.
Planning Commission — July 30
The Planning Commission agenda included a public hearing on amendments to Title 19 Land Development Code, Chapter 19.16, regarding new or unlisted business uses, and a separate amendment to Chapter 19.13 on Development Review Processes to align with recent changes to Utah State Code. The Commission was also set to review the MiniMint Preschool Home Occupation Class 3 at 87 E Baltic Rush Avenue, Jacob Ranch Marketplace Lot 10 Site Plan at 1805 S. Redwood Road, Taco Bell Major Site Plan Amendment at 27 West Crossroads Boulevard, and Riverwalk Phase 1 Preliminary Plat at northeast of Riverside Dive and Thrive Drive.
