Sigurd Council to Weigh Annexation, Emergency Ratification, and Truck Purchases
Sigurd's Planning Commission and Town Council held three meetings over the past week, with agendas covering annexation, subdivision rules, an emergency declaration, and bids for new fire and water trucks. Minutes from these meetings have not yet been published, so official outcomes are not available.
Planning Commission (Aug. 12)
The Planning Commission met on Aug. 12 to discuss a proposed annexation ordinance and a subdivision ordinance. The agenda also included a citizen request for updates from Joe Udy and approval of the minutes from the commission's July 8 meeting. No action results are known because minutes have not been released.
Town Council Public Hearing (Aug. 19)
On Aug. 19, the Town Council held a public hearing to receive comments on a proposed annexation, referred to as the Nelson Annexation. The petition, map, and supporting documents were available for public review at Town Hall, 595 North State Street. No other business was listed on that agenda.
Town Council Work and Regular Meeting (Aug. 19)
Later the same day, the council held a work meeting at 6:00 PM followed by a regular meeting at 7:00 PM at Town Hall. The agenda included several action items:
- Ratification of a state of emergency declared by the mayor on July 23, 2026
- Subdivision ordinance updates
- Annexation ordinance and the Nelson Annexation
- Acceptance of bids for fire trucks and water trucks
- Installation of RMP LED lights over the courts
Department reports were scheduled to cover the Cove River final plat, speed limits, and water shut-off time frames. As with the other meetings, the minutes have not yet been published, so the council's decisions on these items are not yet known.
