Vineyard City Council holds hearings on subdivision code, fees, and road design
The Vineyard City Council met twice in the past two weeks, holding public hearings on a subdivision code amendment and a proposed $150 land disposal fee, and discussing road design, license-plate cameras, and the city budget. Meeting minutes have not yet been published, so no decisions are recorded.
City Council: Aug. 11 — Subdivision code and fee hearings
The council held public hearings on two items. The first concerned an amendment to the Vineyard City Subdivision Code. The second concerned a proposed $150 Insignificant Land Disposal Application Fee, which would apply to requests to dispose of city-owned parcels valued under $20,000 and smaller than 300 square feet. The council also considered Ordinance 2026-07, amending the Municipal Code for the Planning Department, and Resolution 2026-34, amending the Consolidated Fee Schedule to include the $150 fee. Consent items included approval of meeting minutes from July 7, July 14, and August 4, 2026. A separate public notice announced a hearing on an ordinance to remove the City Planner as a required signatory for subdivision plats, to streamline the recording process.
City Council: Aug. 18 — Road design, ALPR cameras, budget
The council held a work meeting to discuss design proposals for 400 South Road, the use of Automatic License Plate Reading (ALPR) cameras, and the city's Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget. Public comments were accepted, and the meeting could have included an executive session.
Other recent meetings
The Communities That Care Commission met Aug. 13 to decide on a Family Day event direction (dinner in the park vs. drive-thru meal) for Sept. 28, confirm co-sponsorship of an Oct. 14 Sheriff's Office Safety & Prevention Event at Grove Park, and select a September Suicide Prevention Month outreach approach (yard signs, social media, or bracelets). The commission also introduced a new Assessment & Data Workgroup launching mid-September and was recruiting for open positions.
The Vineyard Library Board met Aug. 18 to consider rules for a puzzle exchange, discuss planning for Boo-a-Palooza, and brainstorm ways to increase program attendance and community awareness. The board also discussed providing monthly updates to the City Council and potential future library locations.
Coming up
The City Council will hold public hearings Aug. 25 at 6:00 p.m. at 125 South Main Street on a compensation increase for elective and statutory officials and on amendments to the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget. A separate notice covers compensation increases for executive municipal officers. Written comments are accepted by email before the meeting, and the proposed budget amendment is available for inspection at City Hall.
