Amalga P&Z approves cheese plant work, tables home; council hears annexation talk
The Amalga Planning and Zoning Commission on Aug. 11 approved a zoning clearance for Schreiber Cheese to demolish and rebuild its loading dock, the most consequential action from the past week's meetings. The commission also cleared a patio cover and a mobile home relocation, while tabling a home clearance pending more documentation. The Town Council met Aug. 12 to discuss annexation and other items, but took no recorded votes.
Planning and Zoning Commission (Aug. 11)
The commission, meeting at 6590 N 2400 W, took several actions:
- **Tabled** a zoning clearance for Kurtis Falslev's home until additional documentation is provided.
- **Approved** a zoning clearance for Schreiber Cheese's loading dock demolition and rebuild.
- **Approved** a zoning clearance for Nate Noyes' patio covering at 5500 N 3100 W.
- **Approved** a zoning clearance for Sid Munk to move a mobile home 40 feet parallel to the property line.
The commission also discussed a proposal from April Turner to modernize the town's communication system and received a citizen's petition opposing a proposed annexation. The annexation is outside the commission's jurisdiction, so no action was taken. The meeting was rescheduled from its original date because of a conflict with the Cache County Fair.
Town Council (Aug. 12)
The Town Council's monthly meeting included a sheriff's report, a timeline for Dakota Bodily and Charlie Erickson presented by Tammy Munk, and an annexation discussion led by Mike Morley. Council members Paul Hansen, Colette Dursteler, Mark Cowley, and Rayslyn Larsen gave reports. The council also approved minutes from July 8, 2026, and the July 22, 2026 workshop. No votes on policy or spending were reported.
