Aurora City Council approves code change, website funding; new officer sworn in

At the Aug. 19 meeting, the council voted unanimously to change the city's code listing from Municode to Civiclink, with Vercimak abstaining. It also approved funding for a new city website, with Croft abstaining. The council swore in Tracy Jacobsen as a new police officer.
The council discussed a proposed bike path from Salina City to Aurora, with bridge work expected to start in October and bidding in May. The Planning Commission is working on a new flood zone ordinance to address city liability. Vandalism at West Park was also discussed. The meeting was largely procedural, with no public comment.
Recreation Board discusses community center, youth sports
The North Sevier Recreation Board met Aug. 10 to discuss routine business, including a drinking fountain in the community center lobby and basement, Junior Jazz basketball commissioners, Salina park grant funding, and a flag football commissioner. The board also received updates on youth sports, community center improvements, and a commissioner meeting, and reviewed financial reports. No decisions were reported.
City Council discusses flooding, transportation plan
The City Council's Aug. 13 meeting was agenda-only, with no decisions. The agenda included discussions on flooding along 500 West, a progress report on the Transportation Master Plan, an update on the flood ordinance, and a review of culinary water use and past-due accounts. Shay Morrison of the R6 Regional Council was scheduled to address conflict of interest, data privacy, website/.gov, land use checklists, budget outline, and annexation policy plan. Plans for a 9/11 Day of Service on Sept. 12 were also on the agenda.
