Council approves 2026 Ford Escape for police, sanitation rate increase, and water plant design
The Villa Rica City Council's most consequential actions came at its July 14 meeting, where members unanimously approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford Escape for the police department and adopted a full Consent Agenda that included a sanitation rate increase, water plant preliminary design, and a TSPLOST distribution agreement. All votes were unanimous.
The council also adopted a Public Comment Policy and approved meeting minutes from May 5 and May 12. A resolution for the Villa Rica Cultural Arts Center was tabled until July 14, 2026, also by unanimous vote. The council amended its agenda to add an item and added an executive session for personnel matters.
July 7 meeting: Workers compensation renewal and library board appointments
At its July 7 meeting, the council entered an executive session by unanimous vote, then returned to the work session and adjourned, both unanimously. Through the consent agenda, the council approved the 2026–2027 workers compensation renewal and appointed Katelyn Small to the Library Advisory Board and reappointed Claudia Best to the Carroll County Library Advisory Board. All actions were adopted without dissent.
July 16: Development Authority reviews economic development proposals
The Villa Rica Development Authority met July 16 to review two proposals for an Economic Development Ecosystem Assessment strategic framework. The agenda also included a financial update presented by Interim Finance Director Amanda Long, a training workshop for upcoming Joint Authorities scheduled for September 10, 2026, and a discussion on creating new by-laws. Additional items included a selection date for panel interviews and a special meeting to finalize a consultant team, plus routine approval of prior meeting minutes.
