The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Board of Fire Commissioners met July 7 with consent items including a revised amendment to a State of Nevada contract for fire fuels and vegetation management services. The amendment would raise the total not-to-exceed cost by $10,000,000, bringing it to $31,616,000. Other consent items included a revised Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team Agreement with the cities of Sparks and Reno, extending the term to June 30, 2029, with a $16,000 annual contribution per agency; a right-of-entry agreement with Truckee Meadows Water Authority for booster pump station construction at 470 Foothill Road, Reno (APN 044-300-27); a retroactive 3-year agreement with Ready Rebound, Inc. for work-related orthopedic injury management at $49,758.30 per year; and acceptance of a donation of one Traeger pellet grill valued at approximately $500.
County commissioners weigh trail grant and audit schedule
The Washoe County Board of County Commissioners met July 14 with items including acceptance of a $100,000 grant for Nature Loop Trail improvements, approval of the Fiscal Year 2027 Internal Audit Schedule, acknowledgment of the Annual Internal Audit Report for FY2026, and acknowledgment of a Continuum of Care Structure Memorandum. Planning Commission takes up equine code and NV Energy extension
The Washoe County Planning Commission held public hearings July 7 on Development Code Amendment Case Number WDCA26-0003, which would update regulations for small, medium, and large equine facilities. The commission also considered Case Number WAC26-0008, a proposed 2-year extension until May 7, 2028, for NV Energy to obtain building permits for a 10.8-mile transmission line, and Case Number WAB26-0005, a proposed abandonment of a 13-foot-wide portion of a road and utility easement at 5399 Mountain Ranch.
Citizens advisory boards elect officers
Three citizens advisory boards held meetings scheduled to include annual officer elections. The Sun Valley/District 3 CAB met July 6 to elect a Chair and Vice Chair for 2026-2027 and heard a presentation by Tru Hubbard of the Nevada Department of Wildlife on urban wildlife education. The Warm Springs/Rural CAB met July 8 to elect officers and discuss updated CAB bylaws and boundary maps approved by the Board of County Commissioners. The North Valleys CAB met July 13 to elect officers and heard a presentation by the Washoe County Public Guardian and Public Administrator.

The Washoe County Senior Services Advisory Board met July 15 for informational updates from Sparks, Reno, and Northern Nevada Legal Services, plus a presentation on the Northern Nevada Homeshare program.
